Re-directing the bad guys

According to key Internet players, over 90% of bad request use DNS.

Cisco recently acquired OpenDNS probably for this main reason.  Messing with DNS is not even on the radar for most end-users but OpenDNS actually makes it easy.

Problem: Your 11-year old has a brand-new Smartphone and you realise they have access to ANY content on the internet.

Most of us don’t like to turn off Data

Solution: change to DNS from Google to OpenDNS

End result: no more phone confiscation arguments

This is a typical solution that should not be explained to non-technical or tech scared parents.  Just get the most tech savvy adult in the family to configure it and forget about it, no nerd discussions or debates.

Downside: This is only a partial solution as most phones do not allow you to mess with the DNS settings for cellular.

So we can change stuff for WiFi only.  Unfortunately, most of us are using cellular networks for internet access even when we are home.

Today is a good Day

This morning there is a good balance in me.  Doesn’t matter about the facts on my personal finances.

For some reason I am at peace, neither terrified nor blindly happy.

Today, I have no physical pains and no inner sadness.

Today, I don’t need any medication

Today, I have optimistic hope.

Today, I am Dreamer.

Feels good to be Submerged

Just completed this cute 2Gb title. It’s a nice explorer game free of any violence and ends with an excellent feel good factor.

There should be more games like this on the market.

Sailing away from it all

Assassin creed 7.80 Gb African chapter is glitching out on me but I’ll stick with it 44% in the game.

I last played Life is Strange on the 24-January this year. Using the Unreal engine this is a pure quality title and I know the prequel is on the way. At first, the High School environment was a bit of a put-off triggering memories of when I was bullied or just left out the “cool” gangs but the great guitar sound track and unique rewind feature pulled me in.

New Souls

Yesterday Two new Souls entered my world and I’m bubbling with joy for the parents.  I’m an odd egg so maybe this will bring some balance back into my life.

Dates in my life cross and weave around each other like wild salmon trying to swim upstream.

Attempting to get it wrong

Need for Speed™ Rivals is a thing of beauty that never gets old.  I first played it way back in 2014 gaining a trophy on 2-December.  I picked up the game again hitting Rank 5 on 1-November 2015 and reached Rank 10 on the 25-January 2016.

I figured out a nice sweet spot and nearly fully upgraded a nice Porsche.  Feels great hitting top speed into traffic and smashing up cop cars trying to get away from pursuit.  Pure mindless Hand to Eye arcade fun.

I’m planning a Super car real life circuit drive with my girl on my birthday.  She’s an excellent driver and will be aiming at the road instead of other cars.
