Something to talk about

In the absence of hard core facts, gossip festers like an untreated wound.  Add the emotion layer of relatives and family gossip has got to be one of hardest things to avoid.  Sometimes it’s just merely annoying but often deeply hurtful.

Like polymorphic malware, it changes itself constantly to the environment so that upon detonation it causes the most damage.

How to take advantage of HearSay…post-Fake News about yourself.

Tactically, I’m always undecided as to either feed the gossip with facts to shut it up or just ignore it and let it grow and die organically.

Alternatively, it’s fun to poison the stream with fake news and monitor the reactions.

People always want it to be juicy so it seems just a good move to make things uninteresting.  In my experience, the real facts of life are not what people really want to hear.

Move along nothing to see here

Please don’t follow me

05:35 am – Enjoyed a nap on the early morning sand and welcomed in the Day. This is the best kind of solitude and reflection time for me.

I’m embracing the simplicity of the shoreline, now how do I build that into my actual life?

Daytona Beach, Florida USA

Definitely no meds today, feeling great.

A Year of Updates

It’s been over 12 months since my last visit home, my US home Orlando, Florida.

On arrival, my GPS freaked out and failed to load any maps demanding an update, soft re-boot failed…. failed to connect to power, failed to connect to laptop WTF.

After tinkering for a while and even resorting to connecting to one of my offline Windows XP tablets I got desperate and pissed off.   I did a hard-reset factory restore hidden method and Boom all maps loading and I’m on the road again.

So long as there’s Pancakes I’m happy

I’ve neglected my son duties for a while now so loads of chores to catch up on.  But first off to Walmart and iHop to get my day started.

A simpler place and time

Some songs just capture the moment.

Soon I’ll be boarding my flight from Vienna to my US HomeTown Orlando and here’s exactly how I feel about it.

He kept dreaming
(Dreaming)
Ooh, that some day he'd be a star
(A superstar, but he didn't get far)
But he sure found out the hard way
That dreams don't always come true, oh no, uh uh
(Dreams don't always come true, uh uh, no, uh uh)
So he pawned down his hopes
(Woo, woo, woo-woo)
And even sold his old car
(Woo, woo, woo-woo)
Bought a one way ticket back to the life he once knew
Oh yes he did, he said he would

Oh-oh, he's leaving
(Leaving)
On that midnight train to Georgia, yeah
(Leaving on a midnight train)
Said he's going back to find, ooh
(Going back to find)
A simpler place and time, ooh, yeah
(Whenever he takes that ride,
guess who's gonna be right by his side)

Child’s Play

11:00 – I got sick of dealing with update problems and latency just for a child’s laptop so decided to kick out Windows 10 in favour of any Linux OS.

It’s been a while since I’ve had to mess with laptop operating systems and ran into a MotherLoad of installation problems.

17:56 – Still trying to overcome a looping problem of “OS not found” WTF.

20:16 – Finally got rid of the troublesome Windows partition and Ubuntu seems to boot up fine and running like a Leopard.

21:08 – Firefox on Ubuntu not compatible with Netflix….Are you fucking kidding me right now?  Error Code: F7344-1204

22:08 – Install Chrome via Command Line and it worked with Netflix

Difficulty level – positivity impossible for your casual end-user

The ultimate tester will be the child herself
