Gamer’s Path to Respect (in-game & IRL)

Without even knowing it, the thirst for Respect is one of the key drivers for many Gamers.  Buried deep in our subconscious we grind for better achievements and exotic talents that are higher than our peers with the overwhelming desire to be “liked” and Respected.

I’ve been running the same Blind Banshee build for months merely because is earns so much respect in Div 2 protecting the team and being an effective King-maker.

Here’s a Path to Respect

Be considerate

This build doesn’t kill NPCs very fast, but it sets up teammates to kill without being harmed.

Act respectfully

With hardly any real damage to NPCs, I need to encourage teammates to focus on certain non-obvious threats without demanding they “SHOT HERE”.

Listen and Watch well

I need to have good situational awareness, map knowledge and enemy spawn knowledge to anticipate where the threats come from and where they are likely to run to.

Be useful

Look out for teammates under severe threat of dying and disable the threat immediately.

Don’t make excuses

I’m very squishy so always need to look after myself and can’t blame anyone for me being out of position or foolishly flanked.

Let go of anger

Sometimes, it seems no one is shooting in the right places, just relax and be patient…don’t rage quit.

Be willing to change

If all fails or the team asks you to, switch to a Damage per second Build

Lifestyles of the Bored and Restless

The Lock-down lifestyle is a thing that just creeps up on you…the negatives can be overwhelming, but scraps of good stuff can emerge from your captivity.

Here’s my Top-10 Lockdown issue list

  1. Lack of real exercise or movement
    • Unless you are the healthy type or just have a nice home with a great garden or field then it’s natural to just meander from room to room with no real purpose.
  2. Lack of routine
    • This lack of purpose is just a headshrinker…. Why I am here? What is my purpose?
  3. Lack of real face-to-face social connection
    • So, what if you have 500+ LinkedIn. Body language makes up over 50% of our comms.
  4. Perpetual Snacking
    • I’m a grazer and can’t help but wonder in the kitchen every hour or so for a snack. Even when I’m not hungry
  5. Zoomed Out – Screen time Obesity
    • If our effort to become productive we use ever screen possible and this obsession pushes up to 10 hours a day on various devices.
  6. Trapped on a wheel
    • So, you walk from your home office to the dining room then to the kitchen then back to your home office…been here before.  Yes, you have.
  7. Losing your talent
    • I’m a creature of habit and routine and this is where my craft blossoms.  Without that routine, my talents are at risk…
  8. Filing Time with gibberish
    • Fooling yourself you are actually being productive is pretty common. Let’s have pointless Zoom meetings and phone calls whilst goofing off.
  9. The plague of interruptions
    • The perception that you are “available” at home is annoying and probably my number problem….Yes, I am busy and Yes you are interrupting me.
  10. Lost of Risk
    • From the time you step out of your house you are risking something to gain something. Without that Risk, there is nothing to gain and without that gain, you are just a cardboard cutout of your true self.

Creating my own certainty out of nothing, grind some labs and re-inventing my your own purpose.

Reasons to be Cheerful – USA edition

Undoubtedly, in a year of constant bad news, watching the erasure of a racist, tyrant Bloodclat World leader has been the number one boast to my happiness.

It’s incredible how the audacity of hope hits me across the pond. Now it’s all about rebuilding a non-destructive situation and making my second home fantastic again.

F*** off, I’m not lazy I’m Myasthenic

I finally killed off my three hunters to claim the Ridgeway Chest piece.  Goodness knows what I’ll do with it but at least the deed is done.  You probably won’t hear much from myasthenics around the world as we manage our stress levels and look to side step the pandemic.

The Openness trait is a formidable shield if somebody upsets me I tell them if someone impresses me I tell them. Of course, some people just can’t “handle the truth”. The operational intensive and pressure on back-office IT folk is an attractive and risky endeavour that repulses and attracts me at the same time.

Anyhow, I’m standing strong right now albeit staggered by occasional stress triggering a daytime sleep fest.

Power-On Self-Test

Business and Personal life continuity in our new lockdown era ramps up the criticality of pings.

Cut off anyone’s internet access and with seconds that are flapping around like a fish in the floor. Within minutes their brain will implode and after an hour irreversible brain damage will kick in. Well, a slight exaggeration but you get me point.

Over 90% of our service requires an internet connection and it much cheaper now.
So with these old vulnerabilities in plain view why craft up new malware and exploits. Just reuse the classics, this Christmas, for example, we may see the same threats resurfacing. Privacy is so 2018 as many “bend the knee” to be tracked to “protect” society.

If you really want to socially distance yourself and isolate simply kill your WiFi, job done. No constant stream of toxic global pandemic news sending your brain into panic and disbelief but no entertainment [Sad Face?].

Time to dig up all DVDs or maybe actually talk to the person you live with…if you are lucky enough to co-habit.

Anyhow, my Internet Diet of 24-hours is over and I’m back online uploading this article.
