Gamer’s Path to Respect (in-game & IRL)

Without even knowing it, the thirst for Respect is one of the key drivers for many Gamers.  Buried deep in our subconscious we grind for better achievements and exotic talents that are higher than our peers with the overwhelming desire to be “liked” and Respected.

I’ve been running the same Blind Banshee build for months merely because is earns so much respect in Div 2 protecting the team and being an effective King-maker.

Here’s a Path to Respect

Be considerate

This build doesn’t kill NPCs very fast, but it sets up teammates to kill without being harmed.

Act respectfully

With hardly any real damage to NPCs, I need to encourage teammates to focus on certain non-obvious threats without demanding they “SHOT HERE”.

Listen and Watch well

I need to have good situational awareness, map knowledge and enemy spawn knowledge to anticipate where the threats come from and where they are likely to run to.

Be useful

Look out for teammates under severe threat of dying and disable the threat immediately.

Don’t make excuses

I’m very squishy so always need to look after myself and can’t blame anyone for me being out of position or foolishly flanked.

Let go of anger

Sometimes, it seems no one is shooting in the right places, just relax and be patient…don’t rage quit.

Be willing to change

If all fails or the team asks you to, switch to a Damage per second Build

Tom Clancy’s The Division® 2 – All we really want is RESPECT

F*** off, I’m not lazy I’m Myasthenic

I finally killed off my three hunters to claim the Ridgeway Chest piece.  Goodness knows what I’ll do with it but at least the deed is done.  You probably won’t hear much from myasthenics around the world as we manage our stress levels and look to side step the pandemic.

The Openness trait is a formidable shield if somebody upsets me I tell them if someone impresses me I tell them. Of course, some people just can’t “handle the truth”. The operational intensive and pressure on back-office IT folk is an attractive and risky endeavour that repulses and attracts me at the same time.

Anyhow, I’m standing strong right now albeit staggered by occasional stress triggering a daytime sleep fest.

Perfectly out-of-sync

I had a situation yesterday that forced me to re-evaluate my coping skill levels. it’s been a while since I practised and, like many skills, you can lose the talent. Meanwhile, the first batch of PS5 pre-orders were snapped up in a matter of minutes and Amazon sold out.

Clearing out my stash – next 11 days [prepared]

The new season looks like an excellent opportunity for team achievement. Basically, farm a 100-floor Skyscraper to reach the Summit. I picked up a few notes from the Game broadcast but the patch notes will no doubt reveal a lot more details.

  2. Memento BackPack – kills drop a trophy that buffs weapon damage, Bonus Armour or Skill Efficiency
  3. Kard-45 Pistol – named version gives +1 skill tier

A Simple Plan…ditch the SmartPhone

Doesn’t really matter how we got here but London is dormant, empty and anxious to return to “normal”.  Only there will never ever be a “normal” again.

9 am: I’m at Baker Street tube station and there is no rush hour, I comfortably get a seat.  Gyms are packed with people trying to keep the body and brain active and the façade of returning back to normal is heavy in every conversation.

So how to plan around uncertainty? How to find some confidence?

The Facts

  • Gatherings are very limited
  • All face-to-face services are now chronically slow and prone to cancellation.
  • The “working from home” economy will be here until March 2021…yes another 6 months of this should be expected.
  • Zoom dominates the global market for video conferencing and is totally accepted by all
  • Social media and WhatsApp are the primary methods of news.
  • Cloud architecture is now the primary, on-premise data centres are now the far side of the network
  • Site-to-site VPN to on-premise resources is now not as vital, remote access to VPN to mask your home location is more useful.
  • Being tracked via your mobile phone is a certainty and accepted by most.

The excuses – How to get away with almost anything right now

  • Waking up at noon every day
  • Walking around the house in your underpants
  • Being late
  • Being slow
  • Not being accountable for anything
  • Not trying
  • Not coming up with new ideas
Don’t just sit there waiting for things to get back to normal………..Do Something
