Resigning over Windrush

At the highest levels, it can be hard to dodge when political Rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) are coming at you from all angles. The Windrush generation has some vindication by the resignation of the Home Secretary, Amber Rudd. It’s all over the news but I just need to post my 2-cents.

Amber Rudd resignation

I can’t help feeling that this resignation will be a negative distraction for actual solutions for the Windrush generation.

Anger management

I was faced with zombie level rage on Saturday and it dawned on me what it was like for the target or even an observer of real life uncontrolled anger.  More importantly, looking into the eyes of rage made me reflect on my behaviour.

A found an interesting reference to a good source of controlling anger

Below is an approach to anger management used by
Dr. Kim Masters, of Charter Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.

1. Admit that you are angry, to yourself and/or to someone else.

2. Believe you can control your anger. Tell yourself that you can!

3. Calm down. Control your emotions. Take some time for yourself,
breath deeply, count to ten, cry...

4. Once you actually calm down. Decide how to solve the problem.

5. Express yourself assertively. Ask for what you need.
Speak calmly, without yelling, and people will listen to you.

The Angry Black Man factor (Justified)

My parents came to England in the early 60’s and did alright for themselves, they had me, protected me and for the most part, guided me to success.  It was inspiring to see one of the few UK Black Members of Parliament stepping up to the plate and representing with strength and compassion.

Upcoming AAA gaming hit

If there was one, I missed the Beta testing rounds for the upcoming thriller Detroit: Becoming Human.  Sony pushed out a short demo of the title and I was sold straight away.  I didn’t even bother to explore the demo much but the gaming idea is simple; all your actions are consequential and lead to different storylines and conclusions.

The illusion of free choice is cleverly crafted for the gamer as you ponder what to do.

I’ve nearly reached the FarCry5 Platinum trophy so while Europe tackles new Data laws (GDPR) I will have to Become Human with Detroit robots.

Detroit: Become Human – Beautiful graphics and intense story

GDPR and Detroit Release date 25-May 2018

It’s all about YOU

So with just over 31 days to go before the European Laws change the game, it’s important to know how this may impact you in real life.

Art. 33 GDPR Notification of a personal data breach to the supervisory authority

In the case of a personal data breach, the controller shall without undue delay and, where feasible, not later than 72 hours after having become aware of it, notify the personal data breach to the supervisory authority competent in accordance with Article 55, unless the personal data breach is unlikely to result in a risk to the rights and freedoms of natural persons. Where the notification to the supervisory authority is not made within 72 hours, it shall be accompanied by reasons for the delay.

Clearly, the Lawyers and consultants will win in the end

Vague terms such as “undue delay” still gives weak protection for individuals but the game changer is 72 hours to tell everybody you’ve been hacked.

I can see more blackmail attempts coming forth as companies look to delay public notification.  The big telecoms companies are well prepared and have started notifying end-users of the legal changes but there is not much comments or chatter on how this will change the Hacker community.

The important thing is now you can sue someone when the big hacks happen….and they WILL happen.

Let the legal games begin

I wanna Play a game

Just killed a Boss on a brilliant level in FarCry 5 where they have you going through repeated mind control drills killing “ghosts” leading to actually killing a key friendly Boss by mistake.  Classic behaviour manipulation and great game design.
