My love for single player games continues; this skillset is particularly fruitful in a real-life Person versus Environment (PvE) situation. This morning I arrive at Gatwick Airport knowing I had just one hour to get to the terminal gate.<\/p>\n

Navigating major airport terminals during summer holidays is challenging if you don\u2019t anticipate the delays and have a countermeasure in mind. Also, any Network specialist will tell you that the last \u2018hop\u2019 is often the most problematic.<\/p>\n

10:30<\/strong> arrive at Gatwick by train\r\n10:40<\/strong> arrive at terminal monorail shuttle \r\ntransfer (Primary service)\r\nDelay 1<\/strong><\/span> - (Service failure)Terminal train \r\nout of service transferred to slow buses.<\/em>\r\n10:45<\/strong> arrive at terminal\r\n10:50<\/strong> Checked-in luggage (I don\u2019t normally do this)\r\n10:55<\/strong> Arrive at security check\r\nDelay 2<\/strong><\/span> - (Slow Service) Carry-on luggage \r\nselected for \u2018random\u2019 check<\/em>\r\n11:05<\/strong> Cleared to proceed to gateway\r\nDelay 3<\/strong><\/span> - Gate allocated at 15 mins walk<\/em> \r\n11:10<\/strong> Arrive at Gate sweating and panting\r\n11:30<\/strong> Actually boarding plane\r\nDelay 4<\/strong><\/span> - Sitting on runway \r\nwaiting for flight slot<\/em>\r\n12:14<\/strong> Flight actually takes off<\/pre>\n
Flight departure scheduled for 11:55 and there no compensation or anything I can do about it except bitch and blog.<\/p>\n

Heavy or cumbersome hand luggage \r\nTravel document misplaced \r\nGadgets misplaced \r\nFast steady pace walk pass all NPCs \r\n(In real life - families, groups,tourists, <\/em>\r\nairport staff walking the opposite way and <\/em>\r\nfolk who arrived early)<\/em>\r\nShopping queues \r\nNo window shopping \r\nNo phone calls\r\nNo App checking\r\nNo SMS or VoIP \r\nNo other players\r\n...single player runs are definitely faster<\/pre>\n
Mission accomplished – Side effects<\/h4>\n
Elevated blood pressure \r\nMassive adrenaline surge\r\nNo time to think\r\nNo last minute detours\r\nHight chance of verbal conflict<\/pre>\n
Countermeasure<\/h4>\n
Arrive 2 hours ahead of time. \r\n(Problem: 4 out 5 EasyJet flights delayed)<\/pre>\n
