Emotionally linked to the crime<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>Here&#8217;s what I noticed<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>High victim <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">volume cases<\/span> against the perpetrators left little solace or compensation for individual victims<\/li>\n<li>Perpetrators had an <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">emotional link<\/span> to the crime, highly motivated by revenge, response to personal disaster or trauma.<\/li>\n<li>Insider threat &#8211; <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>abuse of trust<\/em><\/span> cases were high i.e. <em>Police officers doing unauthorised searches, teachers broadcasting false info<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Questions to ponder<\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">What kind of internal controls failed?<br \/>\nDid the perpetrator leave too many digital breadcrumbs and careless whispers because of emotion?<br \/>\nWhat defences did the perpetrators have? I.e. IDS, logs, VPNs, Encryption<br \/>\nWhat was the real goal of the crime?<br \/>\nWho were the technical accomplices?<br \/>\nDid they know it was wrong? i.e. linked to <a href=\"https:\/\/clickonyx.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/ukpga_19880027_en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Malicious Communications Act 1988<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I took a quick look at some Computer Misuse Act 1990 cases just trying to find some common denominators.
