I AM your Father

November 17, 2017 – StarWars Battlefront II goes live to the general public. By then the elites, pro-games, streamers and pre-orders would have already racked up hours of gameplay and earns new guns and abilities while they slaughter new or inexperienced players at will.

I’m still undecided as to whether I will be joining the battles. Game sequels carry a mixed taste, basically, you want more of what happened before but you want it 10 times better, faster and bigger.  No doubt EA is banking on grabbing at least 20 million players globally with this title and it being a big part of the annual $3.147 billion net sales.

Tales of the Expected

Star Wars™ Battlefront was simply a childhood movie fantasy come alive.  I remember the first time my anonymous team brought down an AT-AT walker….sheer geek ecstasy.

Hard to see how that feeling of aweeeeesome can be genuinely repeated.

I last played 30-Sept 2016 at 10:23 am after reaching the maximum level 50 at the time.  I never bothered with DLC so Part II kinda feels like a massive DLC.  Even if the single game PvE is a good story, the community will be looking at the 40-PvP campaigns.

It’s gonna be absolute carnage.

Time waits for no one

I had a lot more time on my hands in 2016 and would play non-stop for days without anybody bothering me. I don’t have that luxury solo gamer environment anymore so I would have to recreate it or suffer from unacceptable mid-game interruptions.

Only self-paced titles like Horizon Zero Dawn work well for me. I need to be able to randomly play for 10-60 minutes irregularly without it hurting the quality of the experience.

So, I’ve answered my own question. I will not be joining StarWars BattleFront II this November.

How to get your ass kicked by an International Master

Jumped into Twitch.tv to find an unusual treat.  Sabrina Chevannes playing 500+ viewers at Chess.

Sabrina is a Women’s International Chess Master and smashes all the chess player stereotypes.  I ended up being distracted and stayed on the stream for a couple of hours.  She’s been playing chess since the age of 8 and would kick my ass in 5 minutes at the game.

Why are Super Stars like this not highlighted more?  To my shame, this was the first time I ever came across this Champion.  Anyhow, seems she’s busy managing her Digital Design company in the London.  Nuff respect.

Naturally, she won against the stream.  A real education.

10 years of FarCry

I can barely muster up an hour of daily quality gameplay lately.  Game time suffers directly when the joys of the “Real world” kick-in and it’s hard to justify to non-gamers that you actually need time to play.  I’m usually disgusted by gamers with poor commitment and find myself exactly in that position.

As this point, I cannot claim to be a gamer but a mere sporadic spectator.

My library is littered with unfinished stories like half-eaten apples.  Of course, this is a common trend during Summer months as opposed to locking myself up in a Man Cave during the winter.

E3 gave us some nice treats to look forward to and, for me, FarCry 5, Assassin’s Creed Origins and God of War are simply must haves for 2018.  Still waiting on news on Last of Us 2 though.  In the meantime, I’m aiming to Platinum Horizon Zero Dawn but the end of August.

Snow in April

This just sums up my year so far, Tales of the Unexpected.

Woke up to snow this morning.

I’d already ditched all my gloves and winter wear thinking it was all over and had to scrabble around for layers of clothing to keep warm.

Day 2 of no PS4

Total carnage…..I Love it

I just spotted a gore title released last month that can serve as a nice Rage outlet.

How to Survive 2 is low cost top down button mashing Zombie killer survival game.

Not many people streaming it right now but it’s a multiplayer so you may meet some real life psychopaths along the way.

It’s a Mature rated game (17+ Blood, Gore and Intense prolonged violence) so it was a little disturbing seeing a YouTube Video by SuperiorZane08, who is sounds like a 10-year old child,  giving a tour of the game.

I bet the parents have no idea what the kid is doing.

“Flower” A Rare treat on PS4

I was 13 years old when Randy Crawford dropped the track “Endlessly”, I had enough pocket money to buy the Album 3 year later. To this very day, the lyrics echo the perfect Love song from a woman to a man.

What is “Rare Grove” today?

Chances are you can find it on all the popular streaming services, there is not even the need to own it anymore.

I still have a load of sealed Vinyl records in my garage but keep my 80’s Typewriter close to my gadgets.

In this cashless, always connected world keeping our “Rare” stuff offline and unavailability to SmartPhones is an admirable goal.

See me after Class for some authentic Rare Groove experiences.
